Jeffrey Bees, CPA, CGMA, MS-OL, is vice chancellor for finance and resources, health sciences, and vice dean for finance, School of Medicine, roles that will draw on his vast and wide-ranging experience collaborating with researchers, physicians, government agencies and others to advance institutional goals.

Bees formerly served as chief financial officer for UPMC Health Plan Commercial and Ancillary Products and WorkPartners, a position he held since 2016. In that role, he was responsible for fiscal management and analysis for all commercial group and individual health insurance and the operations of WorkPartners. Prior to this role, he spent seven years as senior director, finance, UPMC Health Services Division–Physicians, where he oversaw financial matters for the second largest division of UPMC’s health provider system. He joined UPMC in 2006 as director of finance for the Office of Sponsored Programs and Research Support.

Earlier in his career, Bees served as chief financial officer and acting executive director of the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh, corporate controller for Clearwater Inc. and director of mergers and acquisitions for American Commercial Holdings Inc. Bees started his career with Price Waterhouse.

A Western Pennsylvania native and longtime resident of Pittsburgh’s North Side, Bees earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Grove City College and a master’s degree in organizational leadership from Robert Morris University. He also holds a certificate in leadership and organizational change from Robert Morris.
