Stephen Wisniewski, PhD

Dr. Wisniewski has had a distinguished career with the University of Pittsburgh spanning more than 25 years. He has served in several administrative and leadership roles, including vice provost of budget and analytics and vice provost for data and information, a role established to add breadth and depth to the use of data analytics in support of the University’s mission.

Other previous roles include associate dean for research and senior associate dean, positions he held from 2006 to 2014, in what was then called the Graduate School of Public Health. In 2015, he was named associate vice provost for planning, helping to advance the University’s strategic planning efforts, while simultaneously serving the School of Public Health as advisor to the dean for special projects.

During his time at Pitt, Dr. Wisniewski has developed a successful research program focusing on the design and analysis of clinical trials, specifically multicenter clinical trials. As codirector of the Epidemiology Data Center, he helps guide the center’s efforts for collaborative, multidisciplinary research projects.

Dr. Wisniewski is the recipient of many honors and awards, including the Thomson Reuters Highly Cited Researcher distinction on five occasions, and has authored more than 450 peer-reviewed papers. He earned his PhD in epidemiology from Pitt, a Master of Applied Statistics from The Ohio State University and a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from Penn State.
